Programs - College Awareness

Since 1994, members of ReachOut 56-81 have gone to Paul Robeson High School in Brooklyn on a regular basis to implement the College Awareness (CA) program. This has included presentations to students, faculty, and parents, as well as one-on-one sessions with interested individuals. ReachOut volunteers discuss the aims and desires of students and help determine how each may best prepare for college admissions.

The CA program is no longer limited to Paul Robeson High, however. In the past twelve years, ReachOut has expanded to several other schools, and is continuing to grow and build on past successes.

Participating schools receive a brochure that includes:

  • a program outline;

  • a College Admissions Handbook, to be duplicated and distributed to the students;

  • the Why College DVD; and

  • notes for Presenters, all of which are age-group specific.

For more specific information on the curriculum and counseling policies of the CA program, please contact a ReachOut representative.
